Asian Eyes and Double Eyelid Surgery — What Decides the Crease
When people search for asian eyes, they are usually asking about the upper eyelid crease — whether it can be created, made clearer or evened out with double eyelid surgery. At VG Plastic Surgery the same crease is not designed the same way for everyone: we measure eyelid thickness, how much fat sits under the skin and how strong the muscle that lifts your eye is, and only then decide whether an incision is needed at all.
Procedures on our eye surgery page
- Incisional double eyelid surgery
- Non-incisional double eyelid surgery
- Ptosis correction — when the muscle that lifts the eye is weak
- Epicanthoplasty
Who it tends to suit
- You raise your forehead and eyebrows to open your eyes, leaving lines on your forehead
- Your double eyelid line keeps fading, or the two sides no longer match
- People often tell you that you look sleepy, and you want the shape of the eye itself to change
- A previous eyelid surgery healed unnaturally and you are considering revision
What the operation involves
Plan at least 7 days in Korea for eye surgery — that covers stitch removal and the first follow-up before you fly.
- Operating time: 30 minutes – 2 hours
- Anesthesia: sedation
- Admission: usually not required
- Stitch removal: 3–7 days after surgery
- Recovery: 5–14 days
When we ask you to wait
- Untreated dry eye or blepharitis — we ask you to see an ophthalmologist first
- A travel schedule too short for stitch removal and the first follow-up in Korea
- You want the exact eyes from a celebrity photo — a different eyelid structure cannot produce the same shape
- Pregnancy, or an uncontrolled thyroid or bleeding disorder
How the cost is quoted
There is no price list on this page. Two people asking for the same eyelid surgery can need a different technique and a different amount of time under anesthesia, so one published figure would have to be revised the moment we examined you. Instead, the quote comes in writing, in this order:
- 1Send photographs — Your face from the front, the side and looking upward, plus a photo of the look you are hoping for — through the consultation form.
- 2Photo review by the surgeon — Not with a salesperson. The surgeon tells you what is possible, what is not, and what they would plan.
- 3Written quote — Itemised, in your language, with what is included and what is not. Valid for a stated period.
- 4In-person examination on arrival — If the examination changes the plan, we tell you before surgery, not after. You can still decline.
Questions about asian eyes and eyelid surgery
Can I bring a photo of the eyes I want?
Yes, and it helps. But a different eyelid structure cannot produce exactly the same shape, so the surgeon tells you what your own eyelid can and cannot do.
How many days do I need in Korea?
At least 7 days for eye surgery. That covers stitch removal and the first follow-up before you fly. It is not the same as being back to daily life — that is a longer, separate number.
How long does swelling last?
Swelling peaks at 3–5 days and settles after that. It looks natural at around 2–3 months, with the final result at 6 months. Non-incisional methods are faster.
Will the surgeon I consulted operate on me?
Yes. There are no ghost doctors — one dedicated eye surgeon performs the whole operation to the end.
I do not speak Korean. Is that a problem?
Interpretation during consultation is free. An interpreter is with you through consultation, the design check on the morning of surgery, and every follow-up visit.
How much does it cost?
We do not publish a price list. The surgeon reviews your photos, plans the operation and sends an itemised written quote showing what is included and what is not.
Start with a free photo quote
Send your face from the front, the side and looking upward, plus a photo of the eyes you are hoping for. The surgeon reviews them and replies with a plan and a written quote.
Surgical outcomes, recovery and cost vary between individuals. Nothing on this page is a guarantee of a specific result, and no quote is final until a surgeon has examined you in person.
