NOSE

Rhinoplasty

A nose has to breathe before it has to look good.

Rhinoplasty before and after — case 753
BEFOREAFTER

Raising a bridge and breathing well through it are two different problems. VG has a board-certified ENT specialist on staff, so a deviated septum or a narrow nasal valve is assessed inside the same surgical plan as the shape — not referred out once the operation is over.

HONEST FIRST

Who this suits — and who it does not

Hiding the cases we turn away in a footnote is not honesty, it is a disclaimer. If the right-hand column describes you, we will say so in the consultation.

This usually helps if

The conditions we most often confirm during consultation.

We do not recommend surgery if

Cases where we postpone surgery or suggest another route first.

  • An active sinus or nasal infection — we treat it first and reconsult afterwards
  • A height that your own nasal structure cannot safely support
  • You cannot stop smoking around the operation — rib cartilage and revision cases heal notably worse
  • Adolescence, before facial growth is complete

TECHNIQUES

Rhinoplasty is not one operation

Several different techniques sit under the name Rhinoplasty. Which one applies depends on what the examination finds, and each carries its own recovery. Below are the operations we actually perform in this category.

Stay in Korea

7–10 days

  1. Dorsal augmentation rhinoplasty

The bridge is raised to give the profile a defined line, using an implant or your own cartilage depending on skin thickness and how much height you need. Which material we would use, and why, is part of the consultation — not a decision made for you.

    Back to daily life10–14 days

  2. Tip plasty

A round, wide or drooping tip is reshaped by repositioning and supporting the tip cartilages, usually with a septal or ear cartilage graft. Skin thickness sets the ceiling for how defined a tip can become, and we will tell you where yours sits.

    Back to daily life10–14 days

  3. Functional rhinoplasty

A deviated septum, enlarged turbinates or a collapsed nasal valve is corrected together with the outward shape. An ENT specialist on staff reviews the breathing side — most clinics that advertise functional rhinoplasty do not have one.

Stay in Korea

10–14 days

  1. Hump reduction

The bony and cartilaginous bump is lowered and the bridge narrowed with controlled osteotomy, so the nose stays straight as it heals. Bruising around the eyes in the first week is normal and expected.

    Back to daily life12–16 days

  2. Short-nose correction

A short, upturned nose with visible nostrils needs the tip lengthened and held with cartilage, usually septal or rib. It is one of the more demanding rhinoplasty procedures and it needs the longest healing time of the group.

    Back to daily life14–18 days

  3. Revision rhinoplasty

Revision means working around scar tissue and whatever structure is left. We often rebuild the framework with your own rib cartilage. It is planned slowly, from photographs and prior records, and we will say if waiting longer is the better answer.

ENT SPECIALIST · ON STAFF

A nose has to breathe before it has to look good

Plenty of clinics print the words 'functional and aesthetic'. Printing them and having someone on staff who does that work are different things. Our ENT specialist plans inside the same operation as the plastic surgeon shaping the nose.

  • Deviated septum — straightening the cartilage corrects the line and the airway together
  • Turbinate hypertrophy — a common cause of blockage, checked during the same operation
  • Nasal valve narrowing — accounted for when the bridge is narrowed, so breathing is not traded for shape
  • Chronic sinusitis — identified before surgery so treatment is sequenced first
