Body Contouring Korea — Abdomen, Thighs and Arms: Recovery and Days to Stay
Body contouring in Korea at VG Plastic Surgery means liposuction of the abdomen, waist and flanks, thighs and arms, performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon in our Body & Breast centre. It changes your shape, not your weight, and the result looks smooth only when skin elasticity and the fat layer left behind are planned together. Expect about two weeks of recovery and a stay of at least 10 days.
Which areas are treated
- Abdomen — a lower belly that stays after training, or a line that has not returned after pregnancy
- Waist and flanks — fat that sits over the waistband at the sides
- Thighs — inner or outer thigh fullness, or a left-right difference
- Arms — fullness at the back of the upper arm
Skin is planned before fat
Fat is the part that can be removed; skin is the part that cannot be controlled once the fat is gone. Where elasticity is good, skin settles onto the new outline over the following months. Where it is significantly reduced, excision or a lift belongs in the plan, and we say so before surgery.
Surgery and recovery
- Operating time: 1–4 hours, under sedation or general anesthesia
- Admission: 0–1 day
- Compression garment: about 2 weeks
- Stitches out: 7–10 days after surgery
- Swelling peaks: days 7–14; most people no longer notice it at about 3 months
- Final result assessed: 6 months
When we ask you to wait
- Weight loss is the goal — with severe obesity we advise losing weight first
- You cannot keep to the compression garment and the two-week recovery
- An uncontrolled cardiovascular or clotting disorder
Days to stay in Korea
Plan to stay at least 10 days so stitch removal and a final check happen before you fly. Follow-up then continues for three months by photograph review with written replies.
How the cost is quoted
There is no price list on this page. The fee follows the plan — how many areas are treated and how long the operation takes — so one published figure would have to be revised the moment the surgeon reviewed your photos. International patients pay the same surgical fee as Korean patients. The quote comes in writing, in this order:
- 1Send photographs — Photos of the area from the front and side, through the consultation form or WhatsApp.
- 2Photo review by the surgeon — Not with a salesperson. The surgeon tells you what is possible, what is not, and what they would plan.
- 3Written quote — Itemised, in your language, with what is included (anesthesia, interpretation and three months of remote follow-up among them) and what is not.
- 4In-person examination on arrival — If the examination changes the plan, we tell you before surgery, not after. You can still decline.
Questions about body contouring in Korea
What does body contouring include at VG?
Liposuction of the abdomen, waist and flanks, thighs and arms. Which areas make sense for you is decided by the surgeon from your photos and the in-person examination.
Is body contouring a weight-loss treatment?
No. It reduces fat cells in specific areas and changes your shape, not your weight. With severe obesity we advise losing weight first and consulting afterwards.
How long is recovery?
Around 14 days before most people are back to everyday activity, in a compression garment for about two weeks. Swelling peaks between days 7 and 14.
How long should I stay in Korea?
At least 10 days, covering stitch removal at 7–10 days and a final check before you fly.
Will my skin sag afterwards?
It depends on skin elasticity, which the surgeon examines first. Where elasticity is significantly reduced, suction alone would leave sagging, so excision or a lift is discussed alongside.
How much does it cost?
We do not publish a price list. The fee depends on the number of areas and the time under anesthesia, and international patients pay the same surgical fee as Korean patients. You receive an itemised written quote after photo review.
Start with a free photo quote
Send photos of the area you want changed from the front and side. The surgeon reviews them and replies with what suction can achieve there and a written quote.
Surgical outcomes, recovery and cost vary between individuals. Nothing on this page promises a specific result, and no quote is final until a surgeon has examined you in person.
