The short answer

Jaw shaving surgery cost Korea: are you worried the figure you got over chat will change once a surgeon reads your CT in Seoul? Read this before you book the flight. You'll know what sets the fee, which methods change it, what reviews get right and how recovery shapes your days, so you can tell which plan fits your jaw and your budget.

  • The cost follows the bone areas involved, the method, anesthesia, your days in Korea and follow-up.
  • A photo cannot show bone thickness or the nerve canal, which is why CT can change the plan and the figure.
  • Foreign patients at VG Plastic Surgery pay the same surgery fee as Korean patients, and the estimate is written.
  • Numbness is the risk to weigh most carefully, because bone that has been removed does not grow back.

Three facts here bear on this worry. We map nerves and bone thickness on CT for facial contouring. Three anesthesiologists work here full time, one dedicated to every operation. Foreign patients pay the same surgery fee as Korean patients, the estimate comes in writing, and an interpreter is included.

I wrote this because people often compare one headline number without asking which bone it covers.

No single figure fits every jaw. The cost follows how much bone is involved, the method, anesthesia, your days in Korea and follow-up, and those differ from one jaw to the next.

To start, send a front photo and a side photo on WhatsApp, taken in daylight with your teeth lightly together, and ask one thing: which parts of my jaw would this figure cover?

Why can a chat figure move after CT?

A photo shows the outline of your face. It can't show how thick the bone is or where the nerve runs.

The inferior alveolar nerve travels through a canal inside the lower jaw and supplies feeling to the lower lip and chin. Korean plastic surgery literature on angle contouring treats avoiding this nerve as a central technical concern. If the canal sits close to the outer bone, less can come off than the outline suggests, and the plan may shrink or change shape.

Width can also come from the chewing muscle rather than bone. Bone surgery won't reduce that part, and it's one of the first things I'd want to separate before anyone talks about a fee. That's why "jaw shaving surgery cost Korea" has no one answer on a chat screen: the figure describes a plan, and the plan rests on your scan. If you're still comparing clinics, these checks a clinic list can't show about your bone will help.

Why do three operations share one name?

"Jaw shaving" is used loosely online, so ask which of these a quote actually means. They differ in how much bone is involved, and that difference feeds into cost.

  • Outer bone shaving thins the outer layer. It suits a jaw that's wide from the front more than one with a sharp, low corner.
  • Angle reduction removes the corner of the jaw, which mainly changes the side view.
  • Long-curve reduction continues the line forward toward the chin, so more of the jaw is involved.

A chin that needs narrowing or moving is a further step. When the jawline and chin are planned together, it's often called V line surgery, which treats them as one line. Your age also changes what's sensible to remove, as I explain in what Korean jaw shaving takes off at different ages.

Double jaw and triple jaw surgery are different operations.

Jaw shaving surgery cost Korea: what moves your figure?

In short, these are the lines that usually make one person's estimate differ from another's.

FactorHow it moves the cost
Bone areasAngle alone is a smaller plan than angle, long curve and chin together
MethodEach added bone step adds operating time
AnesthesiaJaw bone surgery is usually done under general anesthesia, and its length follows the operating time
Imaging and testsAsk whether CT and pre-operative tests sit inside the estimate
Days in KoreaYour hotel, meals and any changed flights sit outside the surgery fee
Follow-upAsk which later visits and dressing changes are covered

Adding a separate operation on one trip brings its own fee and recovery. Someone also weighing eye bag surgery in Seoul should ask for each one listed on its own line.

For your own number, ask on WhatsApp what it would cost for your case, with your photos attached. You can also begin at the photo quote and consultation booking page. Then compare written estimates line by line, because a shorter figure may simply describe less bone work.

What if a surgeon at home said the nerve is too close?

Say you have wide, low jaw corners, a surgeon at home told you the nerve leaves little margin, and you have two weeks of leave. I wouldn't start with the outline. I'd look first at the distance between the canal and the outer bone on each side, because the two sides often differ.

If the margin is thin, the reasonable plan may be a smaller reduction on that side, with the chin or the front line doing more of the visual work. If the width is mostly muscle, surgery on the bone may not be worth doing at all.

If you've been told this at home, send the surgeon's note or an earlier CT report on WhatsApp, along with your question about the nerve margin. Having that report in the chat keeps your own numbers in front of you when you compare answers.

What do reviews get right and wrong?

Threads tagged "jaw shaving surgery cost Korea" tend to repeat a few claims.

  • "Swelling lasts longer than you expect." Largely true. Facial swelling after bone surgery usually eases over weeks, and the final contour can take months to show.
  • "The numb lip always goes away." Often, not always. The figures are in the risk section below.
  • "The bone grows back and the jaw widens again." Removed bone doesn't grow back. That's also why taking off too much is hard to undo.
  • "My friend paid less." That says little unless you know which bones were operated on.

How does recovery shape your days in Seoul?

I can't give you one timeline, because the plan sets the recovery. It's fair to ask for your length of stay once your plan is clear, then book flights with a margin.

One published series gives a sense of the early days. In a review of 588 Korean patients treated by one surgeon, people were admitted for 1 to 2 days and kept compressive dressings on for 4 to 5 days. That was their protocol, not a schedule for your trip. Expect a soft diet at first, plus swelling that's usually most noticeable in the early days.

The flight deserves its own thought. Ask your surgeon how that applies to your plan and your flight length.

Risks and side effects to know

Swelling, bruising, tightness and limited mouth opening are common at first and usually ease over the following weeks. Results and healing differ from person to person.

The less common risks need more attention. These figures come from one surgeon's practice, in patients who often had combined operations, so they aren't this clinic's numbers. Serious bleeding is also described: a 2017 case report covers hemorrhage after an office-based jaw osteotomy that needed in-hospital surgery. That's a good reason to ask who monitors you, and how.

As a general rule, you may need to wait or skip this surgery if you:

  • are still growing
  • have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners
  • have an active tooth or gum infection
  • are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • have a heart or lung condition that makes anesthesia riskier

If your face swells on one side, you develop a fever, or the wound drains after you fly home, see a doctor promptly. Difficulty breathing or swallowing is an emergency. The CDC also advises getting copies of all your medical records before you return home and making sure you can get follow-up care there, so arrange both before you leave.

Your first message can be short

If jaw shaving surgery cost Korea is the search that brought you here, one photo on WhatsApp is enough, and you can ask before booking anything. Add the month you might travel and ask what it would cost for your case. When you come in, I'll examine you and recommend the treatment that fits your jaw, including no surgery if that's the right answer.

FAQ

Questions patients ask

Jaw shaving surgery cost Korea: what should a written estimate list?

Ask it to name the bone areas, the method, anesthesia, CT and tests, and the follow-up visits it covers. If a line is missing, ask whether that item is included.

Do foreign patients pay more than Korean patients?

Not at VG Plastic Surgery. Foreign patients pay the same surgery fee as Korean patients, and the estimate is given in writing.

Why can't one photo settle the figure?

A photo shows your outline but not bone thickness or the nerve canal, and those can change how much bone it's reasonable to remove. It's still a useful way to begin the conversation about jaw shaving surgery cost Korea.

How long does swelling last after jaw shaving?

Swelling usually eases over weeks, and the final contour can take months to show.

Is a jaw angle implant the same kind of operation?

No. An implant adds width at the jaw corner, while jaw shaving removes bone. They address opposite concerns.
