Chin Implant Cost Korea: Implant or Moving the Bone? Methods, Reviews and Recovery
A chin implant suits a chin that sits too far back but has normal height and a stable bite. The fee follows the method, material, anesthesia and any added surgery, so those come first.

The short answer
Is the chin implant cost Korea clinics quote you going to pay for the right fix, and what happens if the implant shifts after you've flown home? Read this before you compare another quote. You'll come away knowing which methods fit a short-looking chin, what reviews get right, how recovery runs and what moves the fee, so you can choose what suits your face and your budget.
- An implant adds forward projection and does little for a chin that is long, wide or creased.
- A sliding genioplasty moves your own bone and can also change height, with more involved surgery.
- The fee follows method, material, anesthesia, added surgery and your days in Seoul.
- Foreign patients pay the same surgery fee as Korean patients, and the quote comes in writing.
- Before flying, arrange who at home will see you if the chin swells, numbs or shifts.

Facial contouring is one of the fields I work in here. Three board-certified anesthesiologists are on staff, with one dedicated to every operation. Foreign patients pay the same surgery fee as Korean patients, the quote comes in writing, and an interpreter is included.
I wrote this because chins get priced as though every short-looking one needs an implant, and many don't.
A chin implant suits a chin that sits too far back but has normal height and a stable bite. Your fee follows the method, the material, the anesthesia and any added surgery.
If you can't tell which chin you have, send a side-profile photo with your teeth together on WhatsApp, and ask one thing: does my chin sit back, or is it short? That keeps your first question about your own chin.

What does a chin implant actually change?
In short, it moves the front of your chin forward. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons describes the usual approach as an implant placed directly on the bone, with shaped silicone among the options, to add projection to an underprojected chin. In general practice the pocket is reached through a small cut inside the lower lip or under the chin.

That single direction is what you're paying for. An implant adds a little in front, and it has limited effect on how tall your chin is, how wide it is or how the soft tissue hangs. It also changes how the rest of your profile reads. The same society notes that chin size affects how large the nose appears, which is why surgeons sometimes suggest the two operations together.
When I wouldn't recommend a chin implant
I tell people whether surgery suits them, and I say so plainly when it doesn't. I operate the way I would on my own family, doing only what's needed. For a chin, the patterns below are where an implant usually isn't the answer.

| Your chin | Why an implant falls short | What's usually discussed |
|---|---|---|
| Long chin | Adds to a lower face that's already long | Long chin reduction surgery or a bone move |
| Square chin | A flat, wide base stays wide, and may look wider | Contouring the bone itself |
| Witch chin | The crease and droop sit in soft tissue | A soft-tissue plan, with or without bone work |
| Short chin with an off bite | The bite problem stays where it was | An orthodontic or jaw surgery opinion |
The last row matters most. If your back teeth don't meet properly, a chin implant can hide a bite problem without correcting it. The same goes for a chin thread lift: we don't offer thread lifting, and it wouldn't add projection anyway.
The other refusal is the small case. If a filler would serve you better, we'll say so, even though it isn't what we sell. Read what a clinic list can't show about your bone if you're still sorting out which part of your lower face is the issue.
Sliding genioplasty vs chin implant: which method fits?
The choice comes down to how far the chin must travel and in which directions. With a sliding genioplasty, the lower edge of the chin bone is cut and moved, then fixed in place, usually with a small plate. Because the piece is your own bone, it can go forward, up, down or sideways. The society's page calls this a mentoplasty or genioplasty.
The trade is plain enough. An implant is the smaller operation and can be taken out later, but it stays a foreign material sitting on bone. For contouring surgery, nerves and bone thickness are mapped on CT here, and since bone doesn't grow back, we leave everything that doesn't need to go.
Say you have a stable bite, a chin of normal height and a profile that falls a few millimeters short. I'd look at an implant first, because bone surgery would be more than that small change requires. Now say your chin also looks short from the front, or sits off center. An implant can't correct either, so I'd steer the conversation toward moving bone, even though that quote will read differently.
What do reviews get right about chin implants?
Three claims come up again and again in threads about chin implant cost Korea and results. Here's how they hold up medically.
"Implants always shift." Too strong. Displacement is a real, recognized complication, but a well-fitted implant in a tight pocket often stays where it was placed. Movement that does happen tends to show as asymmetry.
"Implants look fake." Partly true. The usual cause is size or shape chosen without regard to the rest of the face, and an edge can show through thin skin. The material alone doesn't explain it, a point that also comes up in why thick skin limits a nose implant.
"Bone surgery is always the better choice." Not for a small forward change. It solves more problems, and it also asks more of you in surgery and recovery.
How long is recovery, and when can you fly?
Bone surgery generally takes longer, with more swelling and often a stretch of lip numbness. With a cut inside the mouth, expect soft food and careful rinsing for a while.
The flight deserves its own thought. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that flying after surgery raises the risk of blood clots, so ask your surgeon how many days to keep between the operation and your flight, and book around that answer. Leave a spare day if your ticket allows it.
Chin implant cost Korea: what moves your figure
Five things set the fee, and a useful quote should name each one:
- The method. An implant and a bone move are different operations.
- The material and fit. Implant type, size and any shaping needed for your chin.
- The anesthesia. Local with sedation or general, chosen for the scope of surgery.
- Added surgery. A chin often gets planned alongside a nose, and breathing can change a nose plan too.
- Your time in Seoul. Hotel nights and follow-up visits sit alongside the surgical fee in your budget.
A single chin implant cost Korea number from a chat window means little until those five are filled in, and the same logic runs through how fees and stays work across Korean plastic surgery. To get a figure for your case, ask on WhatsApp what it would cost, and attach your photo. Our procedure categories and doctors are all listed on VG Plastic Surgery's English home page if you want to check who sits in the contouring center first.
What if it shifts after you fly home?
Put simply, this is the question I'd want answered if I were flying in. A shifted implant is rarely an emergency, but it does need an examination, and possibly removal or replacement, so plan for it before you leave.
Risks and side effects to know
Common and usually temporary: swelling, bruising, tightness around the lower lip, and altered feeling in the lip or chin, which most often settles over weeks to months. Results and healing differ from person to person.
Less common: infection, implant displacement, asymmetry, a visible edge, and some loss of bone beneath the implant over time. Any of these can lead to removal or a second operation. With bone surgery, longer-lasting numbness and problems with bone healing or the plate are the main concerns.
These are generally reasons to wait or skip surgery: an active infection in the mouth or gum disease, an unstable bite or orthodontic work in progress, uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smoking, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and a chin that's still growing.
Once home, spreading redness, fever, pus, or sudden swelling on one side need a doctor the same day, so go to a local clinic or emergency room and bring your records. The CDC advises getting copies of your medical records and arranging follow-up at home before you travel. Keep your operative note and the implant details with you.
If the follow-up question is the one holding you back, send a note of any earlier chin surgery or filler on WhatsApp, with your travel dates, and ask what you'd need to arrange at home. Having those details in one message keeps your questions specific.

What to send in your first message
One photo is enough, and you can ask before booking anything. Message us on WhatsApp with your profile and one line: what would this cost for my chin, and is an implant the right method? When you come to Seoul, the doctor examines you and recommends the treatment that fits, which may turn out to be a smaller plan than the one you arrived with.

FAQ
Questions patients ask
Can a chin implant be taken out later?
Usually, yes. Implants can be removed or replaced, though the soft tissue may need time to settle afterward and the bone beneath can show some change. Removal is a further operation, so include it when you weigh an implant against moving bone.
Is chin shaving surgery the same as a chin implant?
No, they go in opposite directions. Chin shaving removes bone to reduce a long or prominent chin, while an implant adds projection. A chin that's both long and set back may need bone moved in more than one direction.
Do foreign patients pay more for a chin implant in Korea?
Not here. Foreign patients pay the same surgery fee as Korean patients, and the quote comes in writing. Check that yours names the method, anesthesia and any added surgery.
Does receding chin surgery always mean an implant?
No. A small forward change with a stable bite often suits an implant. A larger change, a short or off-center chin, or an off bite calls for discussing bone surgery or a jaw surgery opinion.
Can I combine a chin implant with a nose job on one trip?
Surgeons sometimes plan the two together because chin size affects how large the nose looks. Combining them changes anesthesia, fee and recovery, so raise it when you ask for a quote.
